About the Author

Bonnie Zieman is an ex-Jehovah’s Witness who was baptized, became a pioneer and special pioneer, and was married to an elder. Am only giving this 5 stars because I can't possibly give it 10 stars. No kidding! I dissociated myself earlier this year from the JW. I was a third generation JW, born in it - 30years. Its been really tough. Oh, being shunned by people I have known for years, people I always had in my house for dinner parties. Despite the pain, I just know I can't go back. This cold treatment just reinforces my reason for leaving which was my observation of fake friendships, my lack of intellectual freedom and coldness of it all.I think I wasn't prepared, despite taking my time to dissociate it has still been a struggle. I really love this book. I have read other books on this topic but in terms of actual techniques for healing, this is the best. I love the debriefing and visualization techniques. I have immediately started debriefing myself everyday. Its a new concept and immensely helpful. I have decided to formally mourn and grieve the loss of my social structure. I also like the suggestion to take time before embracing another religion. I kind of hate the idea of church now but mostly because I feel cheated by an religious organization I sincerely believed was build on Christian love. I also like the idea that we must show compassion for those who are required to shun us, its unnatural and difficult for them as well.Despite all this, I really love the freedom and joy I am enjoying now which I never had. The painful moments are fewer and keep decreasing. Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this book!

All my life I have rested all my faith, dreams, thoughts, you name it, on the Watchtower Society. I am a 45 year old man. Just left 9 months ago. Stopped all Wt. activity 2 months back. Just about had a nervous breakdown. For two months I cried everyday at least once, like a child who's "Mother" abandoned him when I discovered all the lies, cover- ups, scandals. I loved my life as a witness. I was a zealous unstoppable "Jehu". But that dream ended in an instant of time. The worst nightmare of any witness came true. The "apostates" were right all along! As a suggestion, I believe that these 4 books should be sold as a rescue kit for ex-JW's:Crisis of Conscience, In Search of Christian Freedom, Combatting Cult Mind Control, and this MOST excellent book!!!! I suggest reading these books in this order. Their is no book that can help you get on with your life quite like this book. Written by someone who was truly involved with the Watchtower and now a professional in psychology . This book gives practical, professional advice on how to deal with the psychopathic residue of this most deceptive cult. Escape the childlike behavior of having to answer to "Mother". Stand proud and feel good about your independence . Having been a totally indoctrinated "true believer", I am critical about many books. Some seem empty and repetitive about escaping the Watchtower. This is not like that. It has substance you can dig into. Do not waste time. Hit the purchase button NOW!

Just started reading this book and can't stop. The author gives practical advice to JWs thinking about leaving, those in the process of leaving and those who have already exited the organization. I am Stull in the process of reading this book. Actually, I am holding it right now and will resume reading after I complete this review. I recommend this book highly. I wish it were available when I left 26 years ago. Thank you so much Bonnie for lovingly providing this book.

Having been born and raised in a devout JW family, and having married into an equally devout JW family, I began discerning distinctions between Bible teachings and certain Watchtower teachings by the time I turned 30. That is when I began struggling with intense feelings of guilt, although I had not adopted a practice or lifestyle for which one could be disfellowshipped from one's congregation. By the time I turned 60, I realized I could no longer accept, support or recommend the JW religion, yet I was not free to pursue Christian fellowship outside the JW religion without dire consequences; therefore, I finally disassociated from JWs, yet my feelings of guilt only intensified. Psychotherapist Bonnie Zieman helped me identify two likely sources of the guilt which has plagued me for more than 30 years. EXISTENTIAL GUILT results from denying one's true self, especially when one fails to meet one's true potential, a feeling with which many JWs can identify. NEUROTIC GUILT comes from an imagined transgression such as changing one's mind on religious matters and leaving one's religion, a feeling with which most ex-JWs can identify. While existential guilt can serve as a healthy guide back to one's true self, neurotic guilt is unhealthy and damaging and is the type of guilt placed on doubting JWs by the Watchtower. If one does not understand the difference between the positive and negative types of guilt, the punitive part of one's mind (called the Superego) assumes one has sinned and deserves punishment, and one can end up unknowingly creating forms of self-punishment (e.g. depression, failures, accidents, chronic pain, illnesses, chronic anxiety, self-sabotage, etc.) Changing one's mind and leaving the Watchtower organization is not a sin, and one doing so certainly deserves no punishment! This is what I learned from Bonnie Zieman's wonderful book, and Bonnie provides many practical suggestions on how to rid oneself of such damaging guilt so that one can enjoy a happy and fulfilling life outside of the Watchtower Society. Thank you, Bonnie Zieman!

I appreciate the good advice in this book. It doesn't deal with the cults belief's so much as it helps us see ways of recovering from the control the religion exercises over our minds.

I was in this cult for 45 years. An "elder" for some 20 years. This book is an excellent portrayal of life inside, the difficulty of getting out, and how to normalize in the real world. Just as an aside, I have never been happier in my life than I am now. Freedom tastes so sweet when you've been a slave for so long! Thank you Bonnie Zieman!

My favorite radiochemistry book. Just at the perfect level for an upper division class. Flexible enough to use for classes with varying focus.

This book was a coil-bound photocopy of a used book. It did not fit the description at all, which included 'and intact spine'.

Radiochemistry and Nuclear Methods of Analysis is a book based on lectures on that subject. It has been written in a way that is understandable and easy to follow by the Chemistry or Physics student but also by the reader who has never been exposed to this subject before. It is well organized providing the reader information of the discovery of radioactivity and the contributions in this field, the concepts, the applications and the instrumentation used. The text is clear and concise. The text also provide additional reference for the reader who wants to continue reading more about a particular topic given that this book is a survey of the applications of radiochemistry. The tables, illustrations, graphs are easy to follow and the equations are well explained. This book is recommended for those who are interested in this area of Chemistr that usually is briefly mentioned during a General Chemistry course.

Although this text was written 1991 it still contains many relevant topics to the field of radiochemistry. Broad topics from nuclear dating methods to nucleosynthesis in star are covered. I LOVE THIS BOOK! I heard that it is impossible to get in United States but you have one! so I bought it! I appreciate it!

For those who are fans of Kim Yuna, this a book that doesn't add much knowledge, but it's a very pleasing book to read. It shows us the struggles and will of Yuna to keep on skating and to winthe olympic gold. For the youngsters it's a good book, who shows a role model.

It is a good overview of Kim Yu-Na's career and life.It is just disappointing that it is a kids book and that there is no adult biography of Kim Yu-Na

it was really informal. good for reports and very easy to read.ni would recomend this book to any one. :)

I liked it because it was fascinating to see such accomplishments. I disliked how it was presented. It was sorta dry .... just telling of these events not actually showing more details.

Read this a few times in the past to keep my mind sharp when it comes to programming and algorithms. I believe this is one of the standard books to review when it comes to “programming interview prep”.I found the chapters on Linked Lists (ch 4), Graphs (ch 5), Strings (ch 6) and Recursion (ch 7) to be the most useful.The explanations provided in the book was good, but I wouldn’t use it as a pure substitute for learning data structures. I prefer textbooks for that.The exercises however, are the meat of this book. Each of the questions presented are very practical and are pretty close to what you would be asked in an interview. I’d say if you want to really prepare for your typical programming interview, definitely pick this books up.It’s also pretty useful for a quick read for a review of data structures and basic algorithmic concepts if you find that you were very comfortable with theoretical CS in the past and and just want to brush up in a practical sense.Highly recommended buy. I have already read this book 3 or 4 times already in the past 6 years or so. :)

A couple years ago, I made an extremely difficult choice. Which interview prep book should I buy? - Cracking the coding interview or Programming Interviews Exposed. I settled and bought both.What is this book good at?Teaching you the fundamentals like you know nothing. This book is like a super condensed version of any algorithms and data structures textbook that reminds you of everything you've learnt (perhaps forgotten) in school.What is it not?Although this book does have some interesting problems to solve, the focus is to get your basics in place rather than have you practise a bunch of problems(which is more the approach of Cracking the Coding Interview). It does not necessarily teach you how to be a good interviewee but rather teaches you how to be a good programmer.This book is great for a person who's lost touch with the basics or just needs a refresher of sorts. It is also good for students to help them understand what parts of their textbooks are most important in terms of interviews. Although, if you are a student, I suggest you pair this book with Craking the Coding interview for your interview prep since that book trains you more practically while this book gives you a strong sense theoretically.

Great review on fundamentals. It doesn't have many sample interview questions. But if there are any you do not understand in here, you know which algorithms/datastructures you should probably brush up on in case they are needed in interviews.I don't think this has anything on hashing and hashtables. It seems to have everything else I remember from algorithms/datastructure courses I once took.

Awesome book. It is clearly tailored to those who have already studied CS extensively. Other books I've tried have wasted my time explaining simple concepts, but this book gets right to business.

Excellent book for studying for job interviews in the software development business.It covers most important areas that are asked in job interviews.And each chapter comes both with explanations and example questions.If you know how to solve any questions in this book - you're definitely getting almost any job you apply to.

Love this book for interview prep. I have both this one and the 'Cracking the Coding Interview' and I think I slightly lean in favor of this one. The other book has more problems, with in depth solutions, but I like the topic coverage of this book. I think all concepts are explained very well. I hate coding interviews, and have issues with nerves that make it very challenging for me to think in that kind of setting. The only way to combat that is to practice and be confident in your knowledge. This book certainly will help in the later. I highly recommend having both books, but if you are only going to go with one I would make this one it.

Extremely helpful to anyone studying for Computer Science interviews. It covers a lot of the topics in-depth, unlike Cracking the Coding Interview which assumes you have a strong understanding of everything talked about in the book, which really helps in understanding what is going on.
